Catching the Spirit Youth Society

Youth Leadership through Outdoor Experience

Meet the 2018 Mentorvisor team!

Sarah -  This is Sarah Merx and it is her first summer as a Mentorvisor with CTS. She loves playing sports including ultimate frisbee and hockey! She grew up in Surrey, British Columbia and is going into her third year of university. Sarah is studying French Education at Simon Fraser University and wants to be a French immersion teacher when she finishes school. She is really looking forward to meeting everyone and experiencing this camp for the first time!

Selby -  This is Selby's second summer with Catching The Spirit as a mentorvisor!  She enjoys kayaking, hiking and writing when she is not busy with her studies at UBC.  She is very passionate about connecting youth with nature and inspiring others to see the beauty in their natural surroundings.  She looks forward to meeting all of the incredible participants and peer leaders and experiencing a fun-filled summer of adventure!

Anna - Anna is excited to be back at CTS for her fifth year, she first joined Catching the Spirit as a participant in 2013 and fell in love with the program. This will be Anna's second year as a mentorvisor and is eager to work with peer leaders and participants this season. She is currently studying at UBC and will continue her studies this fall. Her hobbies consist of hiking, yoga and spending time outdoors.

Ryan - Ryan Chang, 20, loves ultimate frisbee and will make sure you know it. Tynehead’s very own Tarzan without the abs but with the appropriate camp clothing.  Does not like being called Brian. Still has not caught the spirit after 7 summers, maybe this summer will be his summer. Primary suspect of the disappearance of a certain cheese grater. Super excited to help build tents for campers. Please don’t call him Brian.

Selina - This is Selina’s first year as a Mentorvisor and part of the CTS program overall. Selina loves nature, animals, and all things outdoor related. She grew up in Squamish and developed a deep love for the environment and creating community. After this year she will be going into her final year at the University of Victoria, studying Environmental Studies and Geography. She looks forward to getting to know you all this summer!
