Catching the Spirit Youth Society

Outdoor Experiences for Youth

What You'll Do

It's all about being outside, getting involved and taking ownership. CTS, for the most part, takes place outside (that's right, rain or shine!) in Metro Vancouver regional parks as one of two programs throughout the summer: the Spirit Steward Camp Program and the Spirit Ranger Program.  The CTS Fall + Winter Program also offers a way for you guys 'n gals to stay involved throughout the year.

What will you do, you ask? A mix of what we like to call 'CTS in 5'. Every camp is different depending on the leadership team - our talented Peer Leaders put program itineraries together, with mentorship from Supervisors, pulling ideas from these five categories:

Leadership You'll be challenged to lead your peers, as a Peer Leader or participant.

Environmental Stewardship Together you'll build fences or a community garden, restore ecosystems or work on a public engagement project. These projects take place every Saturday morning in the Spirit Steward program and throughout the Spirit Ranger program as well.

Jump Into Nature Really, it's environmental education, but we like to spin it with a GPS obstacle course, a treasure hunt or something else that's just as fun.

Team Building Whether taking the 'you hold, I'll hammer' approach or leading a blindfolded participant through an obstacle course, it's all about inclusion & amazing team outcomes.

Recreation + Leisure From Leave No Trace Camping to a game of capture the flag, it's all in a day's fun for you at CTS.
