Sign up for a day, a week, or more!
Where we're at
Tues & Wed - 4519 Piper Ave, Burnaby
Thursday - adjacent to ICBC at 4399 Wayburne Dr, BCIT Campus, Burnaby
Tues, Wed & Thurs - 4915 W. 16th Ave, Vancouver
What we do
GPS Tracking Tuesdays:
Jump into nature and explore the trails of Burnaby Lake. Meet the local wildlife and plants that make their home in this 770 acre park, right in the middle of the city. Use GPS units to find a site in the park, investigate for invasive species and report it all back to park staff.
Learn how to survive out in nature. Activites range from packing day packs, starting fires and even shelter building! Each week you'll learn a new skill that you can use to help you explore nature and go on tons of adventures.
Community Garden Thursdays:
Give the CTS garden some TLC and munch on some fresh snacks from the garden. Get involved in garden construction projects such as landscaping, pulling invasive species and growing vegetables and local plants. And, when it gets too hot, take a break and have a water fight, or spruce up the garden with some paint!
Two Wheel Tuesday:
Explore beautiful Pacific Spirit Park by bike! Gain some trail riding skills, learn basic bike maintenance, or just go for a mellow ride. Bring your bike & helmet (if you have one) - on Tuesdays only!
Learn about how to survive in the wilderness! Activities range from packing a daypack, how to start a fire and shelter building. Every week is a little different so you might want to check out more than one. The skills you learn here you can use to expore nature and adventure safely.
Zero Waste Thursdays:
On Thursdays our Rangers become ambassadors of Metro Vancouver's Zeero Waste initiative. You'll help to educate the public on how to reduce waste, assess how well the program is working and help to keep the park trash and litter free! Plus have a lot of fun and explore the park at the same time.
Who we are
We are youth from all backgrounds!
Participants: 12 - 18 years old (Registration always open!)
Peer Leaders: 15 - 18 years old
Adult Supervisors: 19+
How we do it
We are 100% funded. That's right. Thanks to our many generous funders and supporters who believe in what we do, we have been able to deliver the CTS experience to youth from the Metro Vancouver area free of charge for the past twelve years. Let's cross our fingers for at least that many more!
We partner with many community and park groups who provide our youth with a variety of stewardship opportunities within their own backyards. It's all about working together and getting actively involved!
